Assistant professor at the Department of Multimedia and Graphic Arts Co-founder and Co-Manager of the Cyprus Interaction Lab http://cyprusinteractionlab.com/ Dr. Andri Ioannou is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Multimedia and Graphic Arts. She has a PhD in Educational Technology from the University of Connecticut (USA) and a BSc in Computer Science from the University of Cyprus. Her research interests include the design and evaluation of computer-supported collaborative learning environments, use of technology to support student collaboration, decision making, and knowledge creation in both distant and collocated settings, and integration of technology in all levels of education. Andri is co-director of the Cyprus Interaction Research Lab, a dedicated research facility that specialises in nstructional Technology and Human-Computer Interaction. She has been the principal investigator of the Creative Multimodal Information Spaces for Problem Based Learning, a Bilateral Project (Cyprus-Slovenia) funded by the Cyprus Research Promotion Foundation, designed to explore innovative, multimodal learning environments for the support of problem based learning in higher education and in particular design education. Previously, Andri worked as a researcher (2006-2009) on the GlobalEd project, funded by the U.S. Department of Education and the Institute of Education Sciences, designed to situate student learning in a virtual problem based learning environment for international decision-making focused on critical world issues. She had further worked as a researcher (2004-2008) on the Teachers for a New Era project (TNE), funded by the Carnegie Corporation, designed to improve the quality of teaching by stimulating the construction of excellent teacher education programs at colleges and universities – ICT literacy being a major component of the project.
