The Max-Planck-Institute for Computer Science and its Computer Science Partner Institutes at Saarland University (Saarbrücken) are internationally renowned places for computer science research and attract researchers from all over the world. Saarbrücken ranks among the top venues for computer science research worldwide. Nowadays more than 500 researchers work on site in various highly interdisciplinary fields such as computer graphics, bioinformatics, computational linguistics, security or foundations to name only a few.

Today we are delighted to be part of the RISE consortium and hope that our experiences will help forming the new RISE center, a Cypriot Center of excellence in Interactive media, Smart systems and Emerging Technologies. We strongly believe in the concept of fostering both, cutting edge research and technology transfer under one umbrella. Together we aim to make the RISE center both, a highly visible place for cutting edge computer science research and a well known innovation accelerator for researchers from all over the world.
