The proposal submitted to the European Commission to establish a Research centre in Interactive media Smart systems and Emerging technologies, with the acronym RISE, was ranked 7th out of 169 proposals and was selected to receive funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 - Research and Innovation Framework Programme, Call: H2020-WIDESPREAD-2014-1-TEAMING.  
 
The aim of Phase 1 TEAMING is to support the preparation of a detailed Business Plan that will set out and secure the achievement of our Research and Innovation goals, Impact targets and means for the long term Sustainability of the proposed centre of excellence.  A proposal based on the detailed RISE Business Plan will be submitted to the European Commission for funding from TEAMING Phase 2, to apply for up to €15m as seed funding for the establishment, operation and development of RISE as a centre of excellence.  Equal and even more matching funds are to be secured from national and other sources.
