The Research Centre on Interactive Media, Smart System and Emerging Technologies – RISE (www.rise.org.cy) is a newly founded research centre of excellence in Nicosia, Cyprus. RISE is a significant investment supported by the European Commission, the Republic of Cyprus and its founding Partners, the Municipality of Nicosia, Max Planck, University College London, the University of Cyprus, the Cyprus University of Technology and the Open University of Cyprus.

The Centre will conduct excellent, internationally competitive scientific research in the area s of visual sciences, human factors and design, communication, and artificial intelligence delivered by high-calibre multidisciplinary research teams. RISE will also engage in knowledge transfer and innovation activities aiming to bridge the gap between scientific research and STEM-led innovation and entrepreneurship.
 
The Centre is seeking a qualified Accountant to join its fast-growing team of passionate and enthusiastic professionals for full-time employment at the premises of the Centre in Nicosia, Cyprus. As part of the Finance Department at RISE, you will handle, prepare, compute, manage, research and analyze all accounting data, to provide quantitative information on performance, financial position, solvency, liquidity and cash flows of our business.

Responsibilities
Main responsibilities include:

  1. Manage all accounting operations based on GAAP accounting principles
  2. Prepare budget and financial forecasts
  3. Publish financial statements on time
  4. Conduct month-end and year-end close processes
  5. Collect, analyze and summarize account information
  6. Compute taxes and prepare tax returns, balance sheet, profit/loss statement, etc.
  7. Develop periodic reports for management
  8. Audit financial transactions and document accounting control procedures
  9. Keep information confidential and secure ensuring compliance to regulatory requirements
  10. Stay current with applicable financial policies, regulations and legislation

Desired qualifications & requirements
  1. Bachelor’s degree with a major in accounting
  2. 2-5 years of progressive experience in general accounting is a must
  3. Thorough knowledge of accounting and corporate finance principles and procedures
  4. Excellent accounting software user
  5. Professional qualifications (CPA or CMA) preferred
  6. Proficient in Excel and other MS Office products
  7. IT consulting or experience in project-based environment considered an advantage
  8. Proven work experience as a cost accountant or in a relevant field
  9. Fluent in English and Greek (written and spoken)
  10. For non-EU applicants a work permit will be required
