Position: Software Developer for an Erasmus+ funded project between two Multidisciplinary Research Groups (MRGs)
Category: A one-year employment contract will be offered with an option to renew, includes a very attractive remuneration package according to qualifications and experience
Location: Research Centre on Interactive Media, Smart Systems and Emerging Technologies, Nicosia, Cyprus
 
The Research Centre on Interactive Media, Smart System and Emerging Technologies – RISE (www.rise.org.cy) is a newly founded research centre of excellence in Nicosia, Cyprus. RISE is a significant investment supported by the European Commission, the Republic of Cyprus and its founding Partners, the Municipality of Nicosia, Max Planck, University College London, the University of Cyprus, the Cyprus University of Technology and the Open University of Cyprus.
 
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to collaborate with researchers currently working on fundamental and/or applied research in two ongoing MRGs at RISE, the Cognitive and Clinical Applications MRG and the Smart, Ubiquitous and Participatory Technologies for Healthcare Innovation MRG.
 
The research focus of the Cognitive and Clinical Applications MRG is on the development and validation of Virtual Reality and mobile applications for cognitive training and clinical interventions, while the Smart, Ubiquitous and Participatory Technologies for Healthcare Innovation MRG focuses on smart, citizen-centred eHealth and mHealth interventions, leveraging mixed reality technologies, edge computing diagnostics and big healthcare data analytics, underpinning P4 medicine (predictive, preventive, personalised and participatory).

Job description

  1. Work with multidisciplinary teams of researchers to identify and define innovation opportunities, especially in the context of Virtual Reality and Healthcare settings.
  2. Build proof-of-concepts and prototypes that can be used to demonstrate the impact of research and VR technologies in the healthcare sector and particularly in medicine schools.
  3. In collaboration with existing research teams, develop prototype applications of different medical training scenarios.
 
Qualifications
  1. Bachelor's degree in computer science or engineering discipline, or equivalent experience
  2. Strong programming skills (e.g., C#, Java script, Python) is a must
  3. Experience with game engines (e.g., Unity3D, Unreal Engine) considered an advantage
  4. Mobile development skills (Android and iOS) considered a must
  5. Expertise with Virtual and/or Augmented Reality technologies considered an advantage
  6. Previous relevant industrial experience will be considered an advantage
  7. Excellent knowledge of both spoken and written English
